Sebastian Efler graduated from Vienna Music University with an Artist Diploma. His teachers were Prof. Josef Gumpinger (Vienna Radio Symphony), Prof. Michael Vladar (Vienna Symphony), and Thomas Lechner (Vienna Philharmonic).

Sebastian Efler won the 1st prize at the International Marimba Festiva competition in 2014 and also won the 2nd prize at the International Italy PAS Marimba competition in 2013. He also won 2 special prizes at the International Universal Marimba Competition in Belgium in 2013.

Sebastian Efler often gives lectures, master classes, and teaches the orchestra repertoire class at National Taipei University of the Arts, as well as other universities such as the National University of Education. He is also the percussion teacher at Wu Ling Senior High School in Taoyuan.
