About Music Lab
Music Lab is a special group of initiatives that brings music directly into the lives of both the elderly and people living with dementia.
The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) set up Music Lab in 2017 with the core values of equal opportunity and inclusiveness in mind. The different initiatives use different music-related activities to partially support the elderly in regaining their autonomy in life and enhance their sense of well-being. For people with dementia, the initiatives aim to help them re-experience the beauty of life and reconnect with society.
Music Lab continues to be a program that pushes the limits of possibility for orchestras and classical music. Since the first program in 2019, the different initiatives have brought together academics, artists and businesspeople from the fields of music, healthcare, social research, and design and technology to do good through music.
