Hsiao-Yun Peng
Sherry Peng holds a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University where she studied tenor trombone with James Olin and bass trombone with Randy Campora. She is the first female to obtain a bass trombone position in a professional orchestra in Asia. In 2004, Sherry won the Bass Trombone audition in the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, where she has been performing ever since.
She has performed concertos with the Wenhua High School Alumni Ensemble, Taipei Wind Orchestra, and Taoyuan Symphony Wind Orchestra, and was invited to serve as a judge for the International Trombone Association Edward Kleinhammer Orchestral Bass Trombone Competition in 2024. In addition to her performance career, Sherry is an Associate Professor of the Chinese Culture University and she also works with various middle and elementary school wind sections.
