BASSOON Principal
Kai-Yu Jian
Ms. Jian has graduated from the National Taiwan Normal University and studied with Prof. Chia-Chü Hsu. She later went to Germany, studied with Prof. Helman Jung at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, and received her Konzertexamen and Künstlerische Ausbildung Diplom with honors.
She was a recipient of the 10th Artist Scholarship of the Chimei Culture Foundation and the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst), and won the first prize in the 1st FOX Bassoon Competition.
She has appeared at the Pacific Music Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Asian Youth Orchestra, and the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. She is currently serving as Principal Bassoonist of the National Symphony Orchestra, actively engaged in solo and chamber music performances, as well as in music education and outreach initiatives.
