DOUBLE BASS
Pei-Chih Lien
Lien graduated with a full scholarship from the New England Conservatory, earning a Master’s degree in Double Bass Performance.
She won first place five times in the Taiwan National Music Competition during her student years and was awarded a full scholarship to study in the United States upon graduating from high school. While abroad, she was actively engaged in both chamber and orchestral music, and was selected multiple times to participate in the Asian Youth Orchestra and the Pacific Music Festival. In 2001, she received another full scholarship to pursue her Master’s degree at NEC.
In addition to her orchestral work, Lien is a frequent performer in chamber music concerts and recording projects. She was invited by internationally renowned violinist Nai-Yuan Hu to serve as the principal bassist at the Taiwan Connection Music Festival. Her participation in the recording of G.F. Handel’s 6 Triosonaten für 2 Oboen und Basso continuo, HWV 380–385, earned the Golden Melody Award for “Best Classical Music Album.” In 2024, she appeared in a televised double bass octet performance produced by Public Television Service (PTS).
