NEWS

For many years, the Taiwan Philharmonic (NSO) has been committed to discovering and fostering a uniquely Taiwanese sound. We actively encourage Taiwanese composers to create works inspired by Taiwan's culture and lived experience, in the hope of shaping aesthetic values from a local perspective.

In collaboration with Conductor Emeritus Shao-Chia Lü and the Hakka Affairs Council, the NSO proudly launches the second edition of the International Composer Workshop. This initiative aims to enhance artistic exchange between Taiwanese composers and the international community.

We are honored to invite Jörg Widmann—one of the rare musicians in today's global music scene who excels as a composer, performer, and conductor—to Taiwan for a series of masterclasses. Accompanying him are several renowned Taiwanese composers, who will lead specialized workshops.

Through these collaborative sessions and artistic dialogues, the workshop seeks to deepen young composers' creative capacity, expand their artistic vision, connect with current trends in the global music scene, and strengthen their understanding of Taiwan's rich cultural environment.
